Clearwater Analytics Reports Agentic AI Now Running in Production Across Nearly 900 Clients

Clearwater Analytics announced today at Clearwater Connect 2026 that nearly 900 clients are now running agentic workflows in production on its platform, marking a shift to sustained, everyday use of AI across investment operations, risk, and private markets. The milestone arrives alongside Clearwater’s new global research report, GenAI and the Data Divide, unveiled at the event. The report surveyed institutional investors worldwide and found that 99% of institutional investors say that unreliable and opaque data is the biggest barrier to trusting AI outputs.

The two findings describe the same divide from opposite sides. The report shows why most firms are still struggling to move AI into production. Clearwater’s experience with its client base shows what changes when the data provided by the underlying platform is complete, accurate and timely every time, leading to high degrees of trust and adoption.

Since first embedding conversational AI, automated workflows, and specialized agents directly into its platform, Clearwater has watched that difference play out in adoption. Clients using the capability grew to nearly 900 this year. The number of clients building their own custom workflows rose 197% since January, and the number running workflows rose 69% over the same period. Usage has moved beyond simple queries: automated workflow runs are up 105% since January, with 3,591 runs completed in a single recent week at a 96% success rate.

“Agentic AI runs on one immutable record, the same facts across every asset, every day, across every market,” said Sandeep Sahai, CEO at Clearwater Analytics. “This week at Clearwater Connect, nearly 900 clients are proving what that means in production, turning shared facts into decisions their teams can act on immediately. Only 56% of firms trust the accuracy of their own data, and accuracy is what determines whether AI earns a place in daily decisions. That is the gap our platform is built to close, and that foundation is what our clients will build on for years to come.”

Why the Data Foundation Matters

Every AI capability on Clearwater’s platform runs against the same single, continuously reconciled investment record that already powers client accounting, reporting, and risk workflows. Outputs trace back to source data at every step, including citations in conversational answers and step-level detail in automated workflows.

GenAI and the Data Divide shows why that matters. Ninety-five percent of institutional investors call AI important or very important to their goals, and 79% expect AI-enabled firms to outperform their non-AI peers. But only 40% say AI currently informs more than a quarter of their operational decisions. That gap traces to data infrastructure. Seventy-nine percent of executives rate their data as complete, but only 56% rate it as accurate.

The firms generating the strongest returns share four characteristics: an outcome focused AI strategy, an embedded AI operating model, infrastructure built for AI workloads, and data governance that ensures accuracy, reconciliation, and accessibility at every layer.

Clients Building on the Foundation

Asset management and insurance clients of Clearwater are already putting that foundation to work and seeing the results. “Securian Asset Management has leveraged Clearwater’s CWIC tool to reduce manual work, automate workflows, and capture tangible time savings,” said Kevin Ligtenberg, Director Investment Operations at Securian Asset Management. “We look forward to continuing to partner with the Clearwater team and making even more progress.”

And at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Bryan DeJonge, Director – Investment Accounting, AP & Cash Receipts, describes a similar shift: “The team has been using CWIC Flow to automate the preliminary review of a monthly validation spanning 198 accounts across six entities, shifting the process from reviewing every account to focusing only on meaningful variances between the trial balance and supporting detail. CWIC will transform the review from ‘search and scan’ to ‘spot and solve,’ reducing review time while allowing greater focus on exceptions that require investigation.”
